Hostal Providencia – My Home for 6 Weeks

Sharing pics from Hostal Providencia, my home in Santiago for the last few weeks. As hostels go, they are generally the best choice for me for long term stays — unique and cozy with friendly people. When you first see this hostel from the outside you can’t tell how big or how colorful it is inside. The entrance is tucked away in a dead-end / cul-de-sac street. It takes a while to realize how big it is. The nice thing about this place is being around like-minded travelers. I was told this hostel is the largest hostel in Chile.

It has a shared kitchen (as most hostels do) which doubles as a bar in the evening.

With nice co-work space for digital nomads – which increased in many hostels after the pandemic. Having workspace was a priority for me, and the wifi connection is good.

Then there is the cozy and colorful patio. Even when it has been cold out, I like coming to sit out here to work or unwind after work. This spot also doubles as a bar and pub crawl.

And lots of colorful decor and nice artwork throughout the place.

This hostel is well established and I knew it would be a good place to stay. It’s a quaint old building with lots of character, a good share of nooks and crannies and in a good location. I’m told it can house up to two hundred residents, and best estimates from the staff is that the building must be close to 100 years old.
