Made it to Huelva, Spain

Made it to Huelva, Spain. A southern city and departure point for the Canary Islands. Though it’s not the southernmost point of Spain. Tarifa is the southernmost point of Spain about 600 km further south from here.

I’m staying at this cute hotel attached to this local restaurant. This feels like Tijuana, Mexico. I keep forgetting I’m in Spain. Also has a bit of a Casablanca feel. Of course, we’re right across the water from Morocco. The best thing about this place is most people here don’t speak English. So it’s a good opportunity to speak Spanish. I saw a McDonald’s sign on the way from the train station but other than that not a strong presence of fast food. And most of the travelers here are other “off the beaten path” travelers like myself. The restaurant is already closed, but they let me order a cappuccino and sit and relax. I’ll step out later to get some water and a light dinner, then I need to prepare my workspace here and test the WiFi because I have to work tomorrow.
